CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND SCHEDULES

Performance Puppy  Register Now!

Many parts of agility foundation handling can be incorporated into puppy play games when they are still young. Then as they mature, the pieces really come together. This class features age-appropriate learning to learn, learning to play, some balance work, targeting, motivational recalls, flatwork, handler crosses using a tunnel, jump seeking (bars on the ground), and basic attention. Class is for puppies up to 15 months. Designed for experienced agility handlers who have a new puppy.

Agility Foundations  Register Now!

Agility Foundations is a prerequisite for all agility classes at SOTC. This class will cover ground work, target training, foundation handling skills, introductory jumping, start line stays, focus, and more. Dogs should be at least 6 months old and have taken a basic obedience class.

Beginner Agility  Register Now!

This class introduces lowered contact equipment and weave poles, jump training, and basic handling skills. This class can be repeated as needed. Dogs should have completed Agility Foundations or have permission from the instructor.

Pre-Novice Agility  Register Now!

Course Length 6 Weeks

This class focuses on building confidence on lowered contact equipment and weave poles and developing handling skills needed to navigate novice courses. Teams will begin simple sequencing. This class can be repeated as needed.

Novice Agility  Register Now!

Novice Agility is for teams that are preparing to trial at the novice/beginner level. Dogs will be working on full height contact equipment and should be able to complete 6 weave poles. Teams will work on proofing their contacts and developing their handling skills (including front crosses and rear crosses) on short sequences consisting of 8-10 obstacles.

This class is for teams that are training or competing at the novice/open level. Teams will work on longer sequences and/or short courses. More advanced handling skills and obstacle challenges will be introduced at this level. Dogs should be able to complete 12 weave poles.

Excellent/Masters Agility  Register Now!

This class is for teams that are training or competing at the excellent/masters level. Dogs should be proficient on all obstacles and handlers should be comfortable with the advanced handling skills needed to navigate full courses that can be expected at the top levels of competitive agility.

Sequences Register Now!

Course Length 4 Weeks - 1.5 hour classes

This will be a short sequence class with approximately 8 obstacles. There will be some back side of jump work, but be geared toward any team that is sequencing. An opportunity will exist for various configurations such as serpentines, pinwheels (both regular and inverted), 270 turns, and unusual tunnel entries.

Intro to Canine Strengthening Register Now!

Course Length 4 Week, 1.5 hour class

Heard about canine conditioning and not sure what it's all about? Come join us INSIDE, in air-conditioned comfort to learn how important strengthening your dog's core muscles and main muscle groups is. You and your dog will learn various exercises and will be able to work with various pieces of equipment such as inflatable discs, peanuts and fit-bones.You'll also learn how important proper warm-ups and cool-downs are. Suitable for dogs in any sport, and very important to integrate these easy moves for the life of your dog. This class provides an introduction and some resources to further pursue this interesting topic.
